About Us

Heart & Flour: was born from a love of family, resilience, and baking. Growing up, I was lucky enough to be raised by my Granny—a tough, talented woman who filled our home with warmth through her incredible cooking, especially her chocolate chip cookies, apple pie, and my favorite, potato soup. She had no filter, spoke her mind, and had a tenacity that inspired me. Though polio affected her physically, I never saw her as “disabled.” To me, she was unstoppable. She taught me that challenges don’t define a person’s abilities.

Years later, I faced a different but familiar path when my daughter was diagnosed with autism. Doctors predicted she would never walk, talk, or form meaningful relationships, but today, she defies those limitations daily. I knew then that, just as my Granny had shown me, I wanted to give my daughter—and others like her—a place where they could thrive.

That’s how Heart & Flour: Equal Kneads Bakery came to be. Inspired by Granny’s love of baking and fierce spirit, we’re here to support individuals with disabilities and autism, providing them with a space where they can gain independence, build community, and experience the joy of meaningful work.

At Heart & Flour, we believe in the power of second chances and the strength of community, creating delicious baked goods with love and purpose. Every item we bake is made by talented individuals proving daily that, no matter the obstacles, they can rise.
